Frequently Asked Questions |
|
| I want my e-mails to be delivered to another host (server) / I want to use foreign MX servers, what do I do? |
If
you wish all e-mails for a given domain to be delivered to another
server you will have to change the MX records for this domain name. To
do so please follow those steps:
1) Go to the Custom DNS Records section
2) Edit the MX records for the given domain by changing one MX
value at a time. Once you enter the new value for the MX record hit the
Change button
The change will take effect in 1 hour. Longer refresh time
indicates that the foreign DNS servers are set to refresh their cache
according to an internal timer instead using the value set in the TTL
(Time To Live) field.
If you intend to use foreign MX records for handling the e-mails
sent to a given domain but continue to use our SMTP server for sending
e-mails you may encounter the following problem: - e-mails send through our SMTP are being delivered to remote
e-mail boxes without problems but e-mails send through our SMTP to an
e-mail account associated with the domain name with foreign MX are
being bounced back with error "relay not permitted" - If you encounter
this problem please contact us immediately so we can solve it.

| Webmail redirection |
For now you can have direct access only to Horde or SupremeWebmail. In order to accomplish this you will have to:
1. Create a sub-domain
for example => webmail.yourdomain.com
2. Navigate to /www/webmail.yourdomain.com using the File Manager / FTP or SSH
3. Create a file called index.html
Paste inside the following code for:
A) Horde
<iframe frameborder='0' style='width: 100%; height: 100%'
src='https://supremecenterXX.com/horde/imp/login.php'></iframe>
B) SupremeWebmail
<iframe frameborder='0' style='width: 100%; height: 100%'
src='https://supremecenterXX.com/webmail/html/login.php'></iframe>
Before pasting the code make sure to replace supremecenterXX.com
with the actual name of the server on which the hosting account is
located. For example supremecenter100.com .
Once the new sub-domain becomes active you will be able to go directly to Horde/SupremeWebmail by visiting http://webmail.yourdomain.com
Of course you can setup two sub-domains for each webmail client like:
http://horde.yourdomain.com
http://supreme.yourdomain.com |

| E-mail and mailing list advice |
Due the recent problems with e-mail providers like Hotmail, MSN, AOL, Yahoo, Comcast and Road Runner as well as other big e-mail providers and ISPs, we decided to introduce a new system for our SMTP servers. Currently all of our customers are sending e-mails through several dedicated mail servers part of our Mail Cluster System. This includes all customers, those that send just several e-mails per day and those who send hundreds. This is a problem since the big e-mail providers may falsely identify such e-mail as spam due the checks their systems perform, for instance, they check the 'subject', 'body' and 'from' fields and the number of the recipients without taking into the consideration the content of the e-mail, if there is certain number of recipients of the same e-mail the e-mail itself is automatically considered as spam and the originating IP address is banned. We had active correspondence with these companies in our desire to cooperate in avoiding this problem, but as you may expect they are not willing to change this policy. This is why we have decided that it is time to act on our own in order to prevent such problems by developing a new approach for handling outgoing e-mails.
Customers who operate with big mailing lists will have the e-mails re-routed through dedicated SMTP servers, which only handle mailing list e-mails. All other outgoing e-mails that do not originate from mailing lists will be processed by SMTP servers dedicated only for them. Doing this allows us to ensure reliable delivery of your e-mails to all providers that have the aforementioned policy.
If you do have to send a lot of e-mails we advise to send no more than 23 e-mails per minute with a minute delay between each batch. Most of the widely used scripts like Joomla and Mambo have such capabilities integrated and for others there is usually a plug-in available. If you follow this that will ensure reliable delivery of the e-mails sent through your mailing list(s).

| I can't send mail because my ISP blocks port 25. Are there any alternatives? |
If your Internet Service Provider blocks port 25 you can use an alternative port for SMTP.
The port number is 2525 . You can define this port in the Outgoing Server(SMTP) settings of your mail client.
Alternatively you can use the SMTP server of your ISP.

| I can't send mail. All outgoing mails are being rejected. |
The Outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication.
In the account properties of the Outlook Express / MS Outlook you should check the box 'My server requires authentication'.
For Macintosh users (using the Mail application):
In the Options field for the outgoing mail server (SMTP) the authentication should be set to:
MD5 challenge-response
And fill in the username and password. |

| What is the difference between a mailbox and an e-mail account? |
The
mailbox is the physical location of your emails, just like the ordinary
mail box. If you wonder how it looks, go to the File manager, click on
the Top Level button and then click on the Mail folder. In that folder
you will see the physical location of each of your mailboxes
represented by a folder with the same name as the mailbox itself.
The e-mail account is the name-tag for that mailbox. Whenever you
create mailbox an e-mail account with the same name is created. You can
also have multiple e-mail accounts (called e-mail aliases) that share
the same mailbox. The e-mail account is an unique name that identifies
a mailbox where e-mails can be delivered. |

| What is a mailbox? |
An area in memory or on a storage device where e-mail is placed. The mailbox is usually a folder on a hard-drive. In e-mail systems, each user has a private mailbox. When the user receives e-mail, the mail system automatically puts it in the mailbox.
The mail system allows you to scan mail that is in your mailbox, copy it to a file, delete it, print it, or forward it to another e-mail account. |

| What will happen if I delete a mailbox? What will happen if I delete a mailbox folder? |
Deleting a mailbox is a single and final step and it cannot be undone. It will delete the selected mailbox along with all e-mail aliases assigned to it and all e-mail messages stored in this mailbox.
Deleting the folder of a given mailbox will lead to the loss of all e-mails stored in it. In addition the mailbox will no longer be operational since there would be no physical location (folder) where the incoming e-mails can be stored.
Please note that there is no backup for e-mails - a deleted mailbox/mailbox folder cannot be restored.
